The Use Of Direct-Fed Microbials

Evaporation of ammonia from poultry manure often results in high levels of ammonia, which can affect the work of the birds, increase susceptibility to respiratory diseases in poultry, and can harm agricultural workers and the environment.

Directly Fed Microbials for poultry (DFM) are naturally beneficial bacteria that have been shown to benefit animal health and function when administered in appropriate amounts.

DFM has been shown to improve overall gut health and efficiency in birds, reduce the incidence of foodborne pathogens, and necrotic enteritis can also easily and always be fed by feed. In this study, it was shown that Bacillus spore (spirulina) -based DFM could reduce ammonia evaporation from bird droppings.

Broiler chickens were propagated from isolated material and fed daily at 106 spores / g for several weeks, and feces were collected and examined for ammonia evaporation, spore concentration, and contents.

The fecal moisture content in this treatment group was reduced by 30% compared to the control group, which may partly explain this reduction in ammonia evaporation. This study shows that some DFMs offer a robust and continuously processed method for vaporizing ammonia in bird droppings.

Direct-fed microbials can improve the overall health of the animal by increasing nutrient absorption and, apart from increasing body fat, balancing good and bad gut bacteria. Microbes with direct feeding:

-Improve general animal health.

-Improve your nutrient absorption.

-Improve feed efficiency.
