Here are the Duckpin Bowling Techniques:
- Start Position: Left foot forward (about 2-4 inches), right foot back, straight ahead, slightly apart. Body must be straight, knees bent, waist high ball; push out and down.
- Press: The length of the push away is approximately equal to the length of the first step.
A. Upright Position- Pushaway is out and down at waist level.
B. Tilt Position- Push straight and steady.
C. Forward Bend Position- Pushaway swings outward and slightly upward.
- Push away: Drop the ball straight down; put weight on the hands during the swing. Try rounding it up and out with a slight bend.
Swing of the Hand- The hand swing is like the swing of a pendulum clock. The ball and hands stay close to the body. Also, keep your elbows close to your body. Use your right arm as a support for the pendulum. Do not let the shoulders back or fall. Keep your back foot on the ground.
In all of the above positions, the ball is slight to the right from the center of the body. The left-hand helps direct the ball and keep your wrists and arms straight.
